“Go, explore one of the episodes and really go into that story and just, you know, come out of it feeling like you just made a new friend. Even though you may have never, you MAY never meet them, you may never message them, but at least you know the struggles or the victories of someone else, which you know, you never know how it’ll affect you and kind of drive you or inspire you. So that’s it. I feel that’s, that’s the power of podcasting. Good storytelling.“

“I remember thinking that the title of this podcast was made just for me and remembered how soothing Andrea’s voice was as a grounding element along with the background of mountains and farmland.“
~Christina Dynamite, Podcast Listener, The Creative Impostor
And if we haven’t met, I’m Andrea Klunder, perhaps the original creative impostor and I am not only grateful to you for listening, but I’m also grateful to myself.
For taking a risk and creating this show — nearly 5 years ago when I had no idea what I was doing. Which has now turned into a platform for my guests to share their creative impostor stories and success practices, and for other podcasters to learn how to podcast through my other show Podcast Envy, and my podcast production, editing and consulting services.
Having this business, being able to work from home, digging myself out of the bankruptcy and depression and identity crisis that followed the dissolution of my first business venture, Infuse Yoga Spa in Chicago — has really been saving me during this pandemic crisis we find ourselves in at this particular moment in time.
I do NOT mean to be a downer here during this podcast party.
But I do want to acknowledge the fruits of all the hard work that has gone into getting to this point. I am usually a very heads down, do the work, learn from the mistakes, keep going type of creator who never really sits back and looks around to appreciate or even notice what I’ve created. I hardly ever actually celebrate! I just keep thinking about what’s next.
So this moment IS about the present moment. It’s not about what’s next because we don’t know. I don’t know.
But what I DO know is that I am so happy to share with you both the voices of some listeners, who have been following The Creative Impostor for a while AND the voices of The Creative Impostor team (yep — i have a TEAM! behind the scenes and they are amazing humans.)
But before we get there…
I want to share the experience of getting listener feedback and HEARING your voice. I’ve been asking for MONTHS for listeners to choose an episode title from the past 5 years and send a voice recording to me telling me in just a few minutes how that particular episode or title impacted your creative life and work. I got a few responses – 3 to be exact. And each time an email popped into my inbox with the subject line “episode 100” I would inhale, smile, and then my palms would get a little sweaty.
So I download the file and import it to my audio editing software. I see the visual waveform pop up on my screen and I click play. And it’s like opening a completely unexpected gift that ends up being your favorite one — every single time.
“You need to get the guts to use your voice and go out and do something, and then that can be kind of hard and scary.”
~Stephanie Breese, Editing Apprentice, The Creative Impostor Studios
