CI125: Pair up with a PowerSister with Pam Covarrubias

Being glued to your chair, to your computer, to your phone doesn’t necessarily equal productivity.

Productivity and self-care may sound like contrary pursuits. Still, if anyone can combine these classic opposites into an uncommon but cohesive practice, it’s podcaster, conscious productivity coach, and recovering procrastinator Pam Covarrubias

Heads up: This episode makes liberal use of a “b” word, an “s” word, and an “f” word. Intrigued? Fabulous! Although the language doesn’t get nearly as salty as you might imagine (what, precisely, are you imaging?), the episode does provide a few choice words, courtesy of Pam, to add to your self-care arsenal. Fire away the next time you need to make space for productivity.

Podcasting? Apply for the 2021 Podcast Envy Pro Pod

I am currently taking applications to join our first curated cohort of professionals who podcast (not necessarily professional podcasters) from a variety of entrepreneurial and content creative backgrounds. The vision is 10-12 pros coming together for a monthly strategy session to solve your most pressing questions around growth, sustainability, craft and culture.

This program is for creative business leaders within any industry or niche with at least 6 months podcasting experience. We will not be covering the basics of “how to podcast,” rather deeper topics for which you can’t just Google the answer or post in a Facebook Group.

If you’re curious, but want to talk with me briefly first to make sure the Pro Pod will be right for you, book a complimentary virtual tea date with me.

My goal and intention for my life is to help women find their voice. One way is to develop that with friction.

~Pam Covarrubias

Once you’ve made some breathing room, it’s time to supercharge those tasks and lean into some reciprocal encouragement. For that, you’re going to need a PowerSister. No, not a blood relative. No, not even a close friend (don’t despair, it’s for a good reason). The psychology behind PowerSister Method, Pam’s small group peer accountability program, is simple. Your chances of completing a project are greater when you tell someone of your intention. Pam knows from personal experience how a partner can strengthen resolve and support meaningful transformation. “Through my procrastination recovery journey, I realized that I needed a power sister the whole time. And I’m the person that needs accountability from someone else.”

The word accountability can trigger memories of dreary college study sessions or dull mastermind groups. Pam’s approach is more holistic. She personally matches each PowerSisters duo herself to spark good tension. I never considered applying conflict to my productivity tasks or self-care activities; I thought we were all aiming for smooth sailing. But in speaking with Pam, I’m beginning to feel that flow is overrated. “Friction,” she says “allows for a lot of growth.”

Did you catch that “f” word? Want to know what the other words are? Listen in then head over to last year’s Podcast Envy conversation where Pam and I chat more extensively about her show Café con Pam
